A Celestial Journey Through the Past: an Exploration of History, Myth and our Connection to the Stars.
Join Torri Yates-Orr for a unique session that combines history, mythology, and a call to action. Throughout history, different civilizations have looked to the stars for guidance, warnings, and hope. For instance, the ancient Egyptians used the stars as the steps to the afterlife, while enslaved peoples of the Americas "followed the gourd." The celestial world has always provided guidance to people from the past. This presentation will explore how our ancestors interacted with the stars and its implications for us today. We will explore the relationship between history, mythology, Afrofuturism, and our aspirations for a better world.
